Can I custom order a pair of Comme il Faut shoes?

I think you must always show
some toe cleavage . . . as it gives sexuality to the shoe. But careful
you only show the first two
cracks, you don't want to give
too much away, you're not
that type of girl . . .

- Manolo Blahnik, shoe designer

Where are the pictures? You mean I'm supposed to order a pair of shoes without seeing what they look like first?

The ladies at Comme il Faut have explained to me that they want to make sure that your shoes are unique and authentic, so they've asked that I not post pictures online of the shoes I have for sale. You're more than welcome to come by the showroom to see what I have in stock. Send me an email and we can set up an appointment.

How do I order a pair of these amazing shoes?

Che Locas shoes are not currently available online. Please come by the showroom!

How does the sizing run? I'm a 7 1/2. Can I get a half size?

Comme il Faut sizes run about the same as American street shoe sizes, but they don't make half sizes. I am a half size, and I've found that the open-toe styles in the smaller size, or closed-toed sizes in the larger size, work great. Bessie makes half sizes., but I strongly recommend trying the shoes on to get a sense of what styles and brands work for your feet.

What's the difference between an "open-toe" and a "peekaboo" toe?

Here's a rough visual aid so you can get an idea. I drew that, so don't make fun of it. If you have wide feet, go for the open-toe, while narrow feet will be more comfortable in the peekaboo.

Are the soles leather or suede?

The soles of the Comme il Fauts are made with high quality leather, which means that you can wear them out on the street without having to worry about ruining them. You can create a suede-like sole by scuffing up the soles with a wire brush or on the pavement. This is a good idea as the soles can be really slick otherwise.
The Bessie shoes come with either suede or leather, so that you can choose the right shoe for the surface you'll be dancing on.

What if the shoes don't fit? Can I return them?

Absolutely! We can do an exchange or a refund as long as the shoes are returned unworn and in good condition. That means that the soles should be unscuffed, so try them out on carpet until you know for sure you're going to keep them.

When do you get new shipments?

It depends, sometimes it's once a month, sometimes every other month. I always send an announcement to the Portango-a list, so you can sign up there to get my notices.

I saw the most amazing pair of Comme il Fauts last night on another woman's feet. Can I special-order that exact
pair from you?

Probably not. Which is actually a good thing if you think about it. I mean, who wants to see her fabulous new shoes on everyone else's feet? Comme il Faut makes small batches of each style, and except for their classic designs, they rarely make the exact same style twice.

If you have something specific in mind (size, color, heel height, open-toe, sandal or peekaboo toe, single strap, crossed strap, ribbons, etc.), you can email me and I'll ask for it in my next order. They'll send me what they have that is closest to your request.
